Meet the Team – Sari Shatil

Sari Shatil PT MSc is a physiotherapist with a special interest in the assessment and treatment of persons with neurological dysfunction and chronic disease.  She is the owner of Neuphysio Rehabilitation a multidisciplinary clinic that provides in-home, in community and clinic-based physiotherapy. She holds a B.Sc. PT from McGill University and M.Sc. PT from The University of Western Ontario. She has over 20 years of clinical, teaching and research experience in physiotherapy. Sari has been an Associate Professor and Lecturer at The University of Western Ontario’s School of Physical Therapy. Sari holds post-graduate certification in The Bobath Approach, in Vestibular Rehabilitation, Visual Rehabilitation, MyndMove, PoNS translingual stimulation, The EKSO Skeleton, Keeogo and Fit for Golf. She is the founder of the TGR Therapeutic Golf Rehabilitation, a physiotherapy-based program to improve balance and quality of life in persons living with injury and disease. Sari also coordinates Head Smart Baseline Concussion Testing, a community service in the London and surrounding area. Most recently, Sari took on the role of lead physiotherapist for Team Canada Wheelchair Curling Team, representing her country and her profession in Pyongchang.

Meet the Team – Darien Lazowski-Fraher

Dr. Darien Lazowski-Fraher is a physiotherapist and educator. She is registered with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario (since 1991) and holds a BSc (Microbiology) and an MSc (Pathology) both from the University of British Columbia (UBC); a PhD (Pathology) and a BScPT (Physical Therapy) both from Western University, London Ontario (UWO). Darien has extensive experience treating people who have persistent pain, dizziness, vestibular, neuro-optometric problems, post-trauma vision problems, TMJ Disorders, spinal fractures (from osteoporosis or trauma) and robotic exoskeleton locomotor training for people with neurological injuries: paraplegic/quadriplegic spinal cord injuries, stroke, CP, MS, ataxia, and other conditions which impact on gait and movement. As a musician and glass & fibre artist and enjoys helping other artists, musicians and singers pursue excellence in their field and optimize their performance to the best of their ability, without pain. Darien has post-graduate certifications in Craniosacral Therapy, Vestibular Rehabilitation, Myofascial Release, Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation, Robotic Exoskeleton Locomotion (EKSO, ReWalk), BoneFit Advanced (Osteoporosis Canada), Wound Healing, Lymphoedema Management, and is licensed to assess and prescribe mobility devices through the Ontario Ministry of Health Assistive Devices Program (ADP).

Meet the Team – Shelialah Pereira

Shelialah Pereira, is a physiotherapist with a special interest in neurological rehabilitation, vestibular rehabilitation and pediatric physiotherapy. She holds a Bachelor of Physiotherapy degree, from the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences in India. She moved to Canada in 2008, to pursue further education and obtained a Master of Science degree in Health and Rehabilitation Sciences (Physical Therapy). Her research examined the factors affecting discharge to community after stroke rehabilitation in a severe stroke population. She has publications in journals such as Disability and Rehabilitation, Topics in Stroke Rehabilitation and Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Shelialah enjoys working with adults and children, with a variety of injuries such as stroke, multiple sclerosis, brain injury, spinal cord injury, chronic pain, complex trauma and vestibular dysfunction. Her post-graduate training includes courses in the Bobath Approach, Vestibular Rehabilitation, Neuroanatomical Acupuncture and Concussion management, EKSO™ and MyndMove therapy. She also holds a post graduate certification in Neuro-Developmental Treatment (NDT).

Alysia Patience is a registered physiotherapist with special interest in concussion management and neurological rehabilitation. She is a member in good standing with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario. Alysia holds an Honours Bachelor of Health Sciences degree and a Masters of Physical Therapy from the University of Western Ontario. Alysia has experience working with clients with a variety of neurological and vestibular disorders, including concussions, and orthopedic, post-operative, traumatic and motor vehicle accident injuries.  Alysia has taken post-graduate courses in concussion management, NDT certificate course, neuro-anatomical acupuncture, vestibular rehabilitation, MyndMove therapy, Keeogo, PoNS therapy, and a variety of manual therapy techniques. Additionally, Alysia teaches as a clinical associate lecturer at Western University for the School of Physical Therapy and is a physiotherapist with Team Canada’s Wheelchair Curling.

Mairi Greig is a physiotherapy resident with a keen interest in neurological rehabilitation. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance from York University as well as a Master of Physiotherapy from the University of Western Ontario. She is excited to begin taking post-graduate courses to further her foundational education. Mairi comes to physiotherapy after a rich career as a contemporary dancer, working with Toronto Dance Theatre, Peggy Baker Dance Projects, the Danny Grossman Dance Company and Bill Coleman Dance, to name a few. She is a Pilates Process certified instructor in mat, Cadillac and Reformer pilates. She is an avid sewer of fine garments, gardener of edible and ornamental delights and enthusiastic participant in many outdoor activities, no matter the weather.

Throughout her time in university, Emily was exposed to a wide variety of populations in a number of different settings, including hospital, aquatic, client homes, and gyms. Emily has worked in the field of rehabilitation for multiple years, exposing herself to a wide diversity of clients. She has experience supporting cardiac patients, and individuals with orthopedic or spinal cord injuries. Emily has assisted clients improve their independence and therefore their quality of life through the use of exercise therapy and rehabilitation.
Emily’s experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team has helped her develop strong communication and conflict resolution skills to ensure that the client’s needs are met. She seeks to build a therapeutic relationship with her clients, therefore providing personalized rehabilitation services.
